Terms of Use
These terms are an agreement between you and Holit Ltd, which runs Theorise ("we", "us") — registered address: 71–75 Shelton Street, London WC2H 9JQ, United Kingdom. They cover your use of the Theorise app and this website. By using Theorise you agree to them. Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect and why.
Education, not financial advice
This is the most important part of these terms. Theorise teaches general money concepts through games and short lessons. It is not financial, investment, tax or legal advice, and nothing in it is a recommendation to buy, sell or hold any product. No real money moves in the games: the amounts are pretend, for teaching. No game tells you to use a particular provider; where a real bank or brand is named, it is only an example, such as a name scammers fake.
Figures, rates and scenarios in the games and on our calculators are examples, simplified for teaching. They may not match today's rates, today's tax rules or what any provider would offer you. Check current figures and take professional advice before you make a financial decision.
The AI coach
The coach's replies are written by AI and labelled as such. They are there to help you learn and can be wrong — treat them as another explanation, not as advice. The coach is for signed-in players, with an allowance that depends on your plan.
Your account
- You must be 16 or over to use Theorise, and you must give your real age group.
- One account per person. Keep your sign-in to yourself — you are responsible for what happens under your account.
- You can delete your account at any time: Me → Settings → Delete account, or see Delete your account.
Leagues and fair play
Scores are earned by playing. Changing your score by any other means, or using more than one account to gain an advantage, may lead to your board row being removed or your account being closed. Your display name (in protected mode, your initials) is visible to other players. Abusive names, and names that pretend to be someone else or to be Theorise, are refused or removed.
Friends and invites
You can invite someone new — an account at most 7 days old. Once they have played on 3 different days within 2 weeks of using your code, you get 30 days of Theorise+ and they get 14. The days are banked in the account that earned them: the current version of the app cannot use banked days yet, and the app will tell you when you can. An invite must bring a real person with their own account: we check invites automatically and by review, and we may withhold or remove days earned with fake or duplicate accounts.
Plans and purchases
Theorise is free to use: one daily workout, lessons, Word of the Day, Cross Math, Review and leagues are free for everyone. Theorise+ and Theorise Pro are optional plans that add more; the plans table lists what each includes.
Theorise+ and Theorise Pro are subscriptions that renew automatically, monthly or yearly. They are sold in the app through your phone's store — the App Store on iPhone, Google Play on Android — and the store takes the payment: we never see your card details.
- Price. The plans sheet and the store's purchase sheet show the price and the billing period before you buy, in your store's currency.
- Payment. Payment is charged when you confirm the purchase: to your Apple Account on iPhone, or to the payment method on your Google Play account on Android.
- Renewal. A subscription renews automatically for the same period until you cancel it. On iPhone, cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period; your Apple Account is charged for the renewal within the 24 hours before the period ends. On Android, cancel any time before the renewal date; Google Play charges the renewal on that date.
- Free trial. The annual plans include a 7-day free trial for new subscribers, and the plans sheet shows it only when your store says you can have it. On iPhone it is one trial per Apple Account across Theorise+ and Theorise Pro; unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, it turns into a paid subscription and your Apple Account is charged when the trial ends, and if you buy a subscription during a free trial, the unused part of the trial ends when you buy. On Android, Google Play decides who can have the trial; unless you cancel in Google Play before the trial ends, it turns into a paid subscription and is charged when the trial ends.
- Manage or cancel. In your store: on an iPhone, Settings → your name → Subscriptions; on Android, the Google Play app → your profile picture → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions. A member can also manage or cancel it in the app: Me → Settings → Manage subscription. Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep your plan until the end of the period you have paid for.
- Refunds. The store you paid through handles refunds, under its own policy: for the App Store, ask Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com; for Google Play, ask through Google Play or e-mail us at [email protected]. A refunded plan ends.
- Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription. Cancel it in the App Store or Google Play too, or you will still be charged.
Acceptable use
Do not try to break, overload or reverse-engineer Theorise, scrape it, or use it to harass anyone. We may suspend accounts that do.
Our content
The games, questions, lessons, artwork and the Theorise name belong to us. You may use them for your own learning, not to copy, redistribute or resell them.
Availability and liability
We work to keep Theorise available and accurate, but we provide it "as is" and cannot promise it will always be available or error-free. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for losses that come from financial decisions you make. Nothing in these terms limits any right you have that the law does not allow us to limit.
Ending your use
You can stop using Theorise and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction over any dispute about them. This does not take away any protection that the law of the country where you live gives you and that cannot be changed by agreement.
Changes and contact
When these terms change we update the date at the top. If a change matters to you, we tell you before it takes effect, by e-mail or in the app. Questions: [email protected].
